November 27th, 2009

Well the 2009/2010 oyster season is off and running and Henderson Pacifics are once again available this season, exclusively at the Olympia Seafood Company on the Percival Landing in downtown Olympia. Thanks to our dedicated volunteer community oyster farmers who work the farm, the public can enjoy this (very) local delicacy while knowing that the ENTIRE purchase price goes back to the Henderson Community Oyster Farm to further it's mission.

I just came back from a lovely moonlit evening on the tide, preparing for the next harvest which will supply the Olympia Seafood Company into the holiday season. Our current crop looks great and will produce oysters from petite to large all season long.

Make a point this season to swing by and pick up a dozen Henderson Pacifics from the Olympia Seafood Company, or come out and connect to YOUR marine resource and farm the tidelands with us at the Henderson Community Shellfish Farm! Contact us and we can tell you how. See you on the tideflats!

Volunteer opportunities abound at the Henderson Inlet Community Shellfish Farm. If you live in Olympia and would like to see your marine resources in action, give Brian a call at 360-280-7410.

We have been raising Oyster in bags on Agate pass for over 50yrs, mostly the ones we like to eat, Ie Olympia and Kumamoto. My grandpa liked the big ones (pacific) and many are still on the beach. I work on the Sound, I own and operate a small salmon charter out of Eagle harbour. I would love to get more involved in these efforts.

Cheers,
